Chateau de Puligny Montrachet Monthelie Blanc 'Les Sous Roches'

The Domaine de Montille was established in Volnay in the middle of the 18th century. Today it farms 20 hectares of vines, essentially Premier and Grand Crus, mainly in the Côte de Beaune but also in the Côte de Nuits. The domaine produces about 8,000 cases covering 20 appellations. During the XX century, Hubert de Montille wrote the finest pages of the domaine’s history. The lawyer and his children have always strived to return their domaine, which had declined in the past, to the stature it once enjoyed. Furthermore, it is thanks to Hubert that during the 1960’s the domaine became renowned around the world.

Since 2002, his children, Alix and Etienne de Montille, manage the estate. The vineyard, already cultivated without artificial fertilizers nor weed-killers since 1985, passes in oragnic then biodynamic culture (in 2005).

In 2003, Alix and Etienne created a micro-trade « Deux Montille, Sœur, Frère », an estate who buy only grapes to produce white wines as a supplement to the red produced in the Domaine. The style and the quality are identical to the philosophy followed by the estate. Every year, 5000 boxes are produced on about ten appellations.

The Château de Puligny-Montrachet, bought by the family De Montille in 2012, is situated at the heart of the Burgundy, from the edge of the small village Puligny-Montrachet. Supervised by Étienne de Montille, the Château de Puligny-Montrachet produces white wines with a certain regularity and elegance.
